Raising the Roof is developing the commercial building located at 25 Peter Street North in downtown Orillia into at least 24 units of deeply affordable housing. The property was acquired by Raising the Roof through the Federal Lands Initiative for Affordable Housing, part of the federal government's plan to have underutilized federally owned properties developed into new units of affordable housing. The property is in predevelopment stage. Chandos construction, a highly experienced certified B Corps, is the general contractor. As much of the subcontracting work as possible will be completed by Community Builders, a local social enterprise contractor. Upon completion, Redwood Park Communities will provide ongoing support services to the building's tenants.
