Bio

Sama is a registered Architect and LEED Accredited Professional with more than 20 years of experience in designing and managing intricate projects across the Middle East and Canada. In her role as Quality Control Manager at the City of Vancouver, she was responsible for overseeing project processes, interactions, and delivery methods, ensuring strict adherence to standards and guidelines for various commercial and mixed-use developments. Sama has also contributed to the BC provincial housing
guidelines and is currently involved in shaping the national harmonized code for Canada.


Holding a master's degree in Architectural Engineering and Urban Design, Sama combines creativity and a commitment to excellence in her work. Her extensive portfolio spans the retail, office, education, industrial, and residential sectors, with
collaborations with global firms such as TETCO, HDR, Stantec, and MAE, as well as local entities like the Vancouver Board of Education, City of Vancouver, and First Nations Authorities.


Outside of her professional career, Sama is deeply committed to public service and leadership. She actively participates in a variety of boards, committees, and panels at both the local and national levels. Some of her notable roles include membership on
the National Model Code Committee (Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes - NRC Codes Canada), EGBC Audit and Practice Committee, WV Board of Variance, Squamish Advisory Panel, EDI Task Force, and the Architectural Institute of BC Board, as well as the Heritage Advisory Board.


When she’s not working, Sama is an avid mountaineering and rock climbing coach. She finds joy and inspiration in the mountains, where she spends her time exploring, climbing, and mentoring others who share her passion for the outdoors.
