Marc Soberano

Marc Soberano is the former Executive Director of Raising the Roof and currently the Executive Director of Building Up. Building Up is a non-profit social enterprise contracting company that trains and employs people living in affordable housing to build and upgrade our City’s affordable housing stock. Building Up has completed energy upgrades, renovations and apartment turnovers for thousands of affordable and co-operative housing units across the GTA, while preparing over 500+ marginalized residents for long lasting careers in the construction sector. Through the process of renovating similar residential properties to customized spaces for vulnerable people in core housing need, he has worked with a variety of housing providers including YWCA, Woodgreen, Wigwamen, St Clare’s, Fred Victor, 360 Kids, Blue Door Shelters, Eva’s Initiative, CAFFI Housing and more. These properties that Marc and his team have renovated and maintained today provide comfortable, dignified homes at an affordable rate for racialized youth, refugee families and adults with developmental disabilities.
