What is the Toque Campaign?
The only thing more Canadian than a toque is the generosity of our people who understand that homelessness is unacceptable, and a problem that can be solved.
– Stephen Gaetz, Former Board President and Director of the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness
Our Annual Toque Campaign
Each year, our national Toque Campaign sees hundreds of volunteers and supporters sell toques across the country, with proceeds benefiting Partner Agencies working directly with people experiencing homelessness.
Since 1997, the annual Toque Campaign has supported nearly 200 community agencies across Canada, raising more than $7 million to date in support of long-term solutions to homelessness.
Where the Money Goes
50% of the gross proceeds from each Toque Campaign item benefit community Partner Agencies working directly with people experiencing homelessness. Proceeds from toques bought in a community stay in that community (this includes online sales).
Remaining proceeds (after campaign costs) support Raising the Roof’s national homelessness prevention initiatives, such as The Upstream Project.

The 2018 Toque Campaign
This year’s Toque Campaign will see more than 40 communities across the country selling toque items to raise funds and awareness for long-term solutions to homelessness. We’re also introducing two new items: the 2018 Heather Grey Toque and the special edition Raising the Roof Hat! Find a complete list of items here.
The 2018 campaign also supports Raising the Roof’s recent shift in focus to homelessness prevention, an area that we know is an important element in ending homelessness in Canada for good. Toque proceeds benefiting Raising the Roof will support our national prevention initiatives. Our primary message: Buy a toque today to prevent homelessness tomorrow.
Toque Tuesday takes place on February 6th, 2018 with events and toque-selling happening in locations across the country. Visit our events calendar to learn more.
We are also currently seeking volunteers for upcoming Toque events. Please see the below listings to learn more & sign-up today!

The Difference a Toque Can Make
Everyone at the organization, everyone in the building… they just made me feel like they’re proud of me. I had no self esteem, I had no self-confidence, nothing. And they started working on giving it back to me. They say that I’m doing the work, but you have to have a reason to start doing the work – you need that team to be there.
– Janet, client of a Partner Agency
Through the help of this program, I was able to maintain stable housing, graduate, and moved into my own place just after turning 19.
– Client of a Partner Agency
Thank you so much for never giving up on me and helping me towards my goal of having my own home, a job and finally being happy. The organization saved my life.
– Sharon, client of a Partner Agency
