A heart warming new tale by children's author Pat Skene

The Whoosh of Gadoosh, a new children's book by Pat Skene, introduces us to Gadoosh, a homeless woman selling magic buttons from a cart. No one knows where she is from and they say she sleeps without a bed. But Gadoosh's magic feet carry her into the air and the magical whooshing game starts. Whimsical and wonderful things float here and there, and the kids can fly too with the help of Gadoosh's "Press Here to Start" buttons. Best friends Jaimy and Jake love Gadoosh and decide to share her with their friends at school, with hilarious results. In the end, Gadoosh finds a place where she really belongs, thanks to the children's kindness.

An avid story teller, Pat Skene wrote The Whoosh of Gadoosh because she knows that inspirational stories bring healing magic to the hearts of children. She is a regular at Ronald MacDonald House and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, spinning tales and making children laugh. Adults will also find this fantastical story fun and heart warming.

Writing for children is Pat's second career. For 25 years she worked in the corporate world of banking. Now she goes to classrooms and children's hospitals, using children's input and ideas to refine her stories. Children love the fantasy and adventure in Gadoosh, and listen wide-eyed to Pat's whimsical rhymes. Doug Keith's beautiful illustrations bring all the colour and magic of the story alive in the hardcover book.

Pat Skene has generously pledged the proceeds from sales of her book through Raising the Roof's Web site to our organization. Click here to find out how to purchase your book now by cheque or online.
