Raising the Roof gives community groups, schools, businesses and people from all walks of life the opportunity to get involved in solutions to homelessness nationally and in your own community.

As a community group, school or faith group, you can join the fight to reduce and prevent homelessness.

  • Participate in one of our high-energy, high-profile events like Toque Tuesday and our signature comedy galas. Read more in our events section.
  • Learn about homelessness, know the warning signs and spread the word about what can be done, by downloading and distributing a series of factsheets. You can order these brochures from us as fold-out posters to post on your notice board or in your office.
  • Are you an agency that works with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness? Find out about how we raise and distribute funds to community agencies. Click here.
  • Be a partner in our Youth Engagement Program and help us target students at both the elementary and secondary school levels.

Together, we can all work to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of men, women and children who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Their Stories: Community Groups Make a Difference

Faith groups across the country are actively investing in solutions to homelessness in their communities. Many support the efforts of local agencies that work with the homeless, they reach out to people who are isolated and at risk of homelessness, and they provide needed services such as meals, counselling, and community space for gatherings including drop-in support circles and substance abuse treatment groups.

Others raise funds in the fight against homelessness, including through Raising the Roof's Toque Tuesday campaign. The United Church of Canada's Toronto Conference has been a particularly enthusiastic supporter of the Toque Campaign, with participating congregations selling more than 10,000 toques over the past four years! Many other churches and faith groups across the country also participate in the Toque Campaign in an effort to help put a cap on homelessness.
