40 Hours CAN Change 40 Lives

Here's a fun, upbeat way to get your 40 community hours and make a real difference in the lives of homeless and at-risk young people in your community.

START YOUR OWN TOQUE CAMPAIGN and help 4, 40 or even 400 people make changes that will lead them to stable housing and a real future. It’s easy and rewarding to launch a Toque Campaign at your own school.

Toques come in sleeves of 10 and cases of 200.  Everything you need to set up your own toque Campaign is in the School kit provided on this page.  Contact Arundel Gibson for more information on tools and tips to support your efforts.

The difference a toque can make

Providing homeless and at-risk youth with education and employment training opportunities and stable, secure housing helps them to develop life skills and grow into independent and contributing members of society. (Based on the Raising the Roof 2009 report “Youth Homelessness in Canada: The Road to Solutions” – a key outcome of the first phase of the Youthworks)

Your purchase of a toque funds grass-roots agencies working to help youth break away from street culture towards a better future. It’s an investment that makes sound economic and social sense.

Toque Campaign Not Your Thing?

Then ADD YOUR NAME to our roster IN SUPPORT OF a National Youth Homelessness Awareness Day. Make your voice count!

You can make tremendous contributions to the communities in which you live and the issues and needs that exist in our society.

By learning about an issue, and choosing to get involved, students can build self-awareness and a sense of social responsibility – not to mention research, communication, organizational, leadership – and life skills.
